Did you know that a third of women in PR have experienced ageism in the workplace?
That over half of those under the age of 50 don’t see themselves working in the same part of the comms industry they currently work in when they reach 50?
And that a quarter of 18 to 34-year olds expect to leave comms to work in another industry?
Women in PR conducted a survey into the state-of-ageism in our industry, sponsored by Opinium. With 218 respondents, we now have the data that prove our hunch that ageism is ‘alive and kicking’ in the comms industry in the UK today. We have set ourselves a goal to place a spotlight on the issue of ageism and champion equality and progress for senior women in PR in the UK…
We are fortunate to welcome, Eleanor Mills, the renowned former editorial director of The Sunday Times and award-winning editor of its magazine – who has launched Noon, an online media platform and community for mid-life women. Eleanor has very kindly agreed to compere our event and a panel discussion that we are sure will be an engaging and passionate debate about what it means to be a woman over 45 in PR today.
